The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa
5.0

I love Julie Kagawa’s Iron Fey series, and have followed Meghan Chase on her journey to the Iron throne. Now we get to follow Ash on his quest to join her…

drey’s thoughts:

Wow. I just finished The Iron Knight and I must say Julie Kagawa’s totally blown my socks off. This one has everything you could want – an engrossing story, a hero adventure fraught with peril and filled with trials, sidekicks fantastical and ethereal, and the trademark witty sarcasms flying between Ash and Puck.

When Ash takes an oath to return to Meghan and the Iron Kingdom, he realizes that it’s all or nothing. Banished from the Winter Court, unable to stay with the Iron Court, he starts off on a journey to find a way to become human. This journey forms the meat of The Iron Knight, and is where Julie Kagawa’s storytelling skills excels.

Ash literally jumped off the pages, he was so real. And Puck. Oh Puck, how have you survived for so long? Sassy, irreverent Robin Goodfellow is the Puck we all know and love (?!). Grimalkin is entertaining as ever. And a couple new faces join the group as they make their way down the River of Dreams to the End of the World so Ash can face the Guardian and take the test that determines if he can become mortal. (Wow, that was a mouthful!)

I am so very glad this fourth installment was written, and those who haven’t loved Ash before now definitely will by the end of this book.

drey’s rating: Outstanding! Fans of faerie and awesome storytelling need to pick this up, right now. Seriously.
