It is my understanding that this book was loosely inspired by Prince Harry and Meagan. I don’t too much keep up with pop culture or anything so I can’t speak to all that they endured with the royal family, but the things Jameson and Dani endured in this book wouldn’t surprise me to be familiar to what could have happened in real life.
The romance between the main characters was not instant as they were at odds for whatever reason. But I enjoyed the few chapters of banter before the heat kicked up. And booooyyy did it! What an unassumingly spicy book this is!! And not just the amount of spice but the quality of spice was…ahem…let’s just say I don’t see it coming. And I’m not mad about it. It didn’t seem like the spice overtook the story at all. The couple seemed to genuinely and organically grow and fall for each other and it was pleasant and super sweet to read.
There is a very obvious villain in the book and while I generally like villains, I just did not enjoy this one. Some villains I love to hate and this one I just straight up hated. Not a knock to the book at all but yea just ugh on that front.
I adored the ending and I’m really looking forward to book 2 in the series.
