Bait and Witch
by Angela M. Sanders
Solid 2.5 stars
This book was a little all over the place and the paranormal/magical elements felt like it took a backseat. It became more about the town's political issues and less to do with her magic. Part of this story feeling all over the place was that there were too many coincidences and weak explanations for those coincidences. Everything was a coincidence but everything fell into place in some weird convoluted way. Also, while I was interested in finding out who the killer was, with all the characters it had to introduce and how one dimensional their personalities felt, it was hard to keep up. Not to mention the love interest came off as creepy and their connection forced. I know it is building to something more romantic but just like her newfound magic, it's a slow burn but with no feeling behind it. There was little chemistry between Josie and her magic or love interest.
It has a lot of potential so I'm hoping this series gets better. I might give the 2nd book a chance.
