Fitz I hate you so much

I just really did not buy into them as a couple. I felt like they did not have any kind of development where they actually spent time together enough to get to know each other. I didn’t believe they were in love with each other. I just really did not like this one. If you had told me this was Elle Kennedy’s first book I would believe you. I just really did not like Fitz and felt like he didn’t really get better. The man didn’t discuss his feeling at all and then all of a sudden I’m supposed to believe him when he says he’s in love with her? When he was just barely able to tell her he even liked her too? And he might live in a fantasy land where he believes they didn’t do anything wrong to Hunter because “they weren’t dating” but he’s simply wrong. No matter how you put it, what they did to Hunter was WRONG. He did not deserve to be treated that way and I honestly don’t think I’ve rooted for a second male lead as much as I did in this book. I just really could not get behind Fitz as a character and find him lacking in so many ways. I do not have faith that this couple would make it in the long run if they existed in real life. Am I putting too much stock into what is supposed to be a lighthearted, unserious book? Yeah probably, but I’ve read a lot of lighthearted, unserious books that were wayyyy better than this one and that I thoroughly enjoyed. I honestly had half a mind to dnf this book but found I was already in too deep and it’d be easier to just finish it.
