In Deep: Chase & Emma by Callie Harper
3.0

'In Deep' tells the story of ace Olympic swimmer Chase Carter and physical therapist Emma Nelson.
On top of being a PT, Emma is also a writer on a small blog. Together with her childhood friend, they plan to expand the blog and get a larger audience.
The way they think to do that is by writing a blog post about Chase Carter.
The world knows Chase as the driven swimmer who is always goal oriented. Chase rarely speaks with reporters and getting the scoop on him promises to be huge.
I enjoyed the writing, story and characters of 'In Deep'.
Callie wrote the perfect book suited for the upcoming Olympic games and made me impatient for the games to begin!

Chase was beautifully written.
Despite being a god in the water, he is very down to hearth, simple but also very private.
He goes all in for his friends and team mates.
I loved How Callie built Chase's character. He wasn’t the typical manwhore sportsman. Instead, he was a dedicated swimmer who had little experience with relationships.
When he met Emma, the attraction was immediate and he acted on it. It was always there between them and was explosive when they acted on it.
I loved seeing Chase open up to Emma and reveal himself to her, because that’s how he is wired.
The only thing that bothered me was Emma's role as a blogger looking to publish a story about Chase. Something that would have ruined the relationship between them.
Emma was also instantly attracted to Chase. As she got to know him, she learned who the man being the public persona is. She knew Chase was very private about his personal life. They often talked about his dislike of the media etc.
That is why her hiding her second profession seemed like a way to insert angst and tension to the story . But It just dragged and made me lose respect for Emma.
What made up for it, it Emma's true feeling for Chase, her dedication to his physical health.
I loved the aftermath of the discovery: Emma and chase spent some time apart but they both needed it. It gave them time to reflect on life and the future they want for themselves after the Olympics.
I loved reading about them dealing with those issues in a mature way. And when they do get back together, I had a huge smile on my face.
Ultimately, 'In Deep' is a well written book, a great summer read. It has great banter and scorching sex scenes.
