I binged this novella in one sitting and overall really enjoyed it. The concept for the world building is fascinating and the mystery of the characters’ complicated past with each other kept me interested in them.

I rated this book 3.5 stars because I really wish it was longer. The concept for the setting and situation was SO interesting, but so complex that I felt like I didn’t really get the exposition that I needed to understand the story until I was 3/4 of the way through. I would have preferred to read this as a traditional-length novel so I could learn MORE about the interesting setting and have enough space for world building to happen before really getting into the meat of the mystery. I would love to see a spin-off or something else by this author set in the same universe.
