Powers and Thrones: A New History of the Middle Ages
by Dan Jones
I’M DONE. I’M FINALLY DONE.
This book took me over a year to read. not because it was bad (it was awesome), but because it was packed so densely with information that I felt almost stupid reading it and developed a headache after a couple pages. Upon the completion of my (very lengthy) journey with this book, I don’t feel so stupid!
I learned so much about the middle ages and I feel like this almost completely filled in the gaps of history that I barely knew anything about. In my brain the middle ages were just sheer emptiness except for knights and the black plague.
I really enjoyed reading this and for how dense it was, it was actually pretty pleasant to read because Dan Jones writes it as a story rather than simply regurgitating information.
I FEEL LIKE I COMPLETED A MARATHON (the hardest book i’ve read) AND CAN FINALLY LIVE MY LIFE AGAIN
