for most of this book I was thinking I may rate it 3.5 or 4 stars, since it was well written but I did not know if it was truly giving me anything to rave about. However, immediately after finishing it I knew it was one of the best books I've read this year. Although most of the characters are messy or unlikable, it is so easy and believable to see everything playing out the way it did. The last paragraph broke my heart. 5/5
