This little novella collection about Death and Chan is pretty perfect. The only fault I could find is that it's not enough. I could gladly read more about the simple yet wonderful adventures of these two.
The four novellas in the book tell the beginnings of something specila between Chan and Death. Both of them were part of the Dead Serious universe already, but I am utterly grateful we get to have their own story.
The short stories are funny, adorable, emotional and even spicy. I laughed and smiled all the way through.
Seeing Death awkwardly learn about humans and be clueless about emotions and feelings is the most heartwarming thing. I loved how genuine he is. It's definitely a breath of fresh air.
Chan's part in the story is heartwarming in a different way. His shiny, fiery personality is finally coming through after months of grieving his best friend. I loved to see him show his attitude and also his endless kindness and care for others.
The book managed to nail some pretty interesting and meainingful conversations about gender and gender expression talking about Vham's experiences as a guy who like to be and fress feminine. It is rarely included so seemlessly in books, so it definitel deserves a point.
All in all, I absolutely adored this book. It definitely brings sunshine and light to the world and I highly recommend it if you read the Dead Serious books.
