To be honest, I don't think that Veronica Roth is a great writer. That wasn't really a barrier in Divergent, which, for all its flaws, I liked quite a bit, but it shows in Insurgent. Ultimately, I'd say that while Insurgent is worth reading if you liked Divergent, it just isn't as good.
