Darkness Rising by James E. Wisher

3.0

For me, this was a fairly forgettable story. I felt like I'd read it before, several times. It was trope-heavy and lacked much depth. Also, is it weird that of the dozen or so women described in the book, ten were beautiful? I like those odds.

The protagonist was over-powered. Most of the adult characters acted like a-holes. The villian's were baby-eating caricatures and the magic system was vague.

On the plus side, the language used was professional, the story was clear, and the plot had momentum. It would be easy to lose a few wet weekends reading this series, but I know there are books out there that suit me better.
