My policy for reading memoirs on trauma is to not give a rating. Review, yes. “Rating” how and what someone shares about themselves? No.
So my thoughts? Leaving aside my personal experiences that ring familiar with the rhetoric, I applaud Shari for her bravery, poignant decision-making, and vulnerability in reclaiming her voice.
Shari touches on the subject of physical and mental abuse; the dangers of family vloggers; what it means to have a fawn response living with a narcissist; her defining her own identity and power.
