Honestly, I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about this book. There was a lot of conflicting things from paragraph to paragraph as well as chapter to chapter. A lot of it left me confused and scratching my head bc it was contradicting things previously stated. This happened fairly early in the book and by the time I made it to chapter 3 I was ready to dnf, which is not something I normally do. I took a break and read something else before picking this one back up and while the contradictions and confusion continued I eventually finished it. With that being said, the story was cute, I was way more invested in the side character than the actual main characters. Boden had his trauma so I understood where the anger and frustration came from but a lot of it could have been avoided by just having adult conversations. Hugo is sweet and caring and patient which is what Boden needs. There seemed to be a lot of angst for angst sake but overall it wasn’t a terrible story. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and while it wasn’t my favorite I am willing to give them another chance as Ive always heard great things about their books.
