Long May She Reign by Rhiannon Thomas
4.0

First of all, I refreshing is it for me to read a fantasy stand alone ! Fantasy always take so much world building it's pretty rare to have a stand alone and I think it's really fun because when I finished Long May She Reign the story felt (almost) complete.

Long may she reign took place in a fantasy world (no magic) I imagined it a little bit has another England in the past time. There's no technology, and like I said, no magic. But there is some science, real science, in this book.
I'm a complete fan of books about monarchy, Queen and King and Kingdom's, and I really enjoyed my time reading this book. It's not a masterpiece of a book, but I really enjoyed my time reading it and I had difficulty to put it down.
So in this book, we followed Freya who's the twenty-third in line to the throne, so the chance that she become Queen are pretty thin. BUT at the party to celebrate the birthday of the actual King, everyone die and she end up being the next in line and become the new Queen.

The main plot is about HOW killed everyone and I love murder story and the intrigue that goes with it. I really enjoyed it and I never guested the person who did it. There's also a subplot and the two combined where dam good !

I really loved the characters and felt attached to them right at the beginning of the story. And for once, I didn't think that book was full of the usual trope that we have in YA. It's sure we have a small romance but it's not the main point in this story.
