I picked this book up at a discount because the tarot card plot and undercover marriage seemed fun and interesting.

I was incredibly disappointed. The FMC is ridiculously pathetic, the amount of disrespect and bullying she allows is insane, the constant pop culture references and quirky adorkable humour was grating, and she makes baffling decisions throughout the entirety of the book.

The romance was terribly rushed, there was sexual and romantic energy from the get-go, they didn't even start pretending to be married before flirting with each other, which completely took away all tension. The plot and world was interesting but could have used a much higher page count to fully flesh out. The ending was rushed. There were issues with continuity in some scenes where I was confused about where Kane was in the room (introduced as standing, then stands when someone enters a room, then white knuckling the back of a chair hes supposedly sitting in???) as well as punctuation issues (inconsistent capitalisation, missing quotation marks).

Honestly, it was an entertaining read for an afternoon but felt very unfinished.
