This ended up being quite an unexpected treat. Now, if you get to the first Olivia chapter and think “No way, from the cat’s perspective?? I’m out.” I get you, I almost gave up too. And while a lot of the cat chapters are mostly pointless, they do serve a purpose to drop some clues and red herrings. So if you can hang on after that you’ll be rewarded.

I don’t wanna humblebrag about how I figured out the ending pretty early or anything, but I will say that the clues are there if you see them. The author does great work trying her best to make you second guess, but I held out on my guess nonetheless. I mention this because while yeah I saw what was coming, it didn’t lessen my reading experience at all. It was a real, honest-to-blog, page turner.

The only knock was that the wrapping up part of the book was over 40 pages and really went out of its way to explain every little detail about what went down. I woulda liked a little more mystery here or there. And then of course there’s one last reveal thrown in there at the very end which was also great.

This was a fantastic book, and I’ll definitely check out what else the author has on offer.
