The Wicked Cometh by Laura Carlin
3.0

The writing was very good and the author set the scene of london very well, but I feel like it was focused on the wrong character. Hester really becomes a vessel through which we see the story and Rebekah, and not really her own person by the end of it. This is what really left me unconvinced by the romance. I love a good historical wlw but Hester didn't have a lot of personality outside of wanting to escape the slums and her fascination with Rebekah. Rebekah was the much more interesting character and I wish we'd seen more from her pov and more of her eccentricities. Also we did not need the epilogue.

That being said I really liked the setting and the writing and would definitely watch out for more from the author.
