On A Rainy Night in Georgia
by Olivia Gaines
I didn't like it, but it gets five stars.
Written well enough but it was a HARD turn from the almost hallmark-ish stories that came earlier in the series.
On one hand I liked the hard turn. No way every mail order bride senerio goes damn near perfect every time. On the other hand, good lord, ease a reader into the dark side of the "romance" genre. Preferably with something slicker than (spoilers) a mucus plug.
Did I like it, nope. However, I think I would have liked it if I went into the read without thinking it was going to be a hallmark romance novel. Maybe even it was another author. I almost feel like this needed to be written under a different pen name.
This wasn't a "romance" and if I think of it as such it gets 4 stars. Giving it five because is keeping me on my toes and has me curious about the rest of the books in the series.
