The Wonder Boy of Whistle Stop
by Fannie Flagg
This was a book to take time and savor. It has a slow cadence. And while you can read it quickly, I preferred to let the story set the pace. It was so nice to spend time with our friends at Whistle Stop again, and sad to lose them as the years went on. That is life and we get to see those lives lived in snippets as the story moves back and forth in time. Fannie Flagg does a great job of interweaving everyone’s lives. Chance encounters can lead to the most unexpected things. It may not be a realistic ending for our friends in Whistle Stop, but who cares. It feels good.
