Okay, so I'm gonna keep this review kinda tight-lipped still since it's so far in the series, and I don't wanna give anything away, but the cover kinda tells you some stuff here, right? lol This book is basically like a bonus story, in my mind, as well as a continuation of the series. The main plot has been resolved, and our favorite characters are back with a new mystery to be solved!

I love that Natsumi Ando found a way to keep the mystery elements in a new and fresh way without taking our characters out of their post-marriage glow. I always appreciate when an artist can take a situation and create something new while not reverting to the same old tactics of before (like antagonism between the main protagonists, for example) while also giving us the elements we loved seeing in the first place. I really think that's the mark of excellent craft!

The art continued being gorgeous, but I did feel like there was less emphasis on the wagashi this time around. It wasn't a bad thing, but I did miss seeing more of it in the story 😁 I bet we'll get more in subsequent volumes, though. I also really enjoyed seeing the little moments of happiness for the protagonists, too-- felt really lovely after all they'd been through!

Definitely recommend this volume, as well as the whole series!
