The art is enchanting and the story was beautifully told! I had read this in tandem with its audio form, and seeing the illustrations while listening to the narration, and additional sound effects and music made it such an atmosperic experience. It had also made it so that I was able to hear the pronounciation of the story in Olelo Niihau as it is in a bilingual format. I'm really glad to have read this and learned a little bit more about Hawaii indigenous history and culture-and the wonderful existence of mahu!- this is an absolute must read for everyone.
