Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
5.0

WOW I really liked this book. I liked how in tune and one with nature Kya was. It was really sad to see how Kya grew up and for her to be so isolated. It took her so long to finally love but I'm glad she eventually found happiness with Tate.

I really enjoyed all the nature facts of animals, birds, and the marsh. The setting really is a core part of the story and Delia did a really good job making the marsh and nature feel like Kya's friend.

Kya's thoughts about nature was really insightful "Evil was not at play, just life pulsing on, even at the expense of some of the players. Biology sees right and wrong as the same color in different light." It made her death not really sad, but just like it was a part of nature. She was already one with the Earth. I loved how her secret got washed into the sea too. Wow!

Maybe the only gripe I have with the book was she was so secretive and shy too with the readers (like all the twists at the end about who AH was and who killed Chase) I felt like I didn't know her fully. Maybe that's what the author intended.
