“Tomorrow I will guess for you what time it is.” ♡
a short story with a big impact. I loved the atmosphere this book created & watching the world unfold through the narrator’s eyes and thoughts. the writing gave me chills & had me invested. it’s less about the plot or what happens in the book, and more about the ambience, the aura, the feelings this book stirs within you. an unreliable narrator, a family mystery, & a consistently unnerving tone all throughout. not to mention how short the book is! I definitely recommend.
I went back & reread multiple chapters to find more clues or any puzzle pieces I missed (which were a lot) & although I loved the writing style, it could be a bit hard to keep up with at times. I wish the book was longer, but the captivating effect would wear off if it were. so for 200 pages, you are transported to Merricat’s world & her curious superstitions & her strange routine & her unreasonably reasonable revenge & watch these 2 peculiar ladies break the mold for Blackwood women & never care if others disagreed.

cross out the ones who heard my cries
