Billy Summers by Stephen King

5.0

MAAAAANN!!
Let's get one thing outta the way: it was phenomenal. 4.9/5

In the beginning, it went like any other "last job for a hitman" type of story. Billy got the job done and that was it. The book within a book device also gave his character a lot more to develop throughout the story. However, his suspicious thoughts grew once certain numbers weren't adding up.

Towards the middle, it did feel like it was dragging on since you'd think he'll just be done with the said job and "take care of" whatever suspicious thought he had.

- weeeeelll, not at first. It eventually all came full circle once you get that initial, "oooohhh that's why!!" Feeling, even if it was dragged on a bit. His dynamic with his new friend hit a soft spot for me and it did a number on me.

In the end, Billy Summers is a lost man with many attributes and unlike a lot of cold and almost robotic hitmen, he actually had a moral compass- of sorts- even if he was a bad man.
