What Kind of Girl
by Alyssa Sheinmel
I was about 1/3 through this book when I realized how it was being written - the different facets of only a select few girls, not an extremely large cast as I'd originally thought. I actually quite enjoyed this, as readers really get to see the different sides of our characters. This book is definitely heavy, from mental health issues to the primary plot of domestic abuse, but I thought Sheinmel handled these issues with care, not shying away yet not glorifying either. The writing was just a tad stilted in places, hence the 4 stars, but overall this was a fantastic novel.
