I Am Still Alive by Kate Alice Marshall

4.0

This book is a unique, bone-chilling thriller. It’s so graphic and real, it’s hard to believe this is a YA book. The part where Jess crawled in her father’s grave almost made me vomit and cry at the same time- WOW. I don’t think I could’ve handled reading that section as a teen, but maybe today’s adolescents are harder-edged? One last question that no other review I’ve read mentions: what happened to the cash buried in the box? Does Jess ever go back for it??? That’s a very odd looked-over detail. Still, a very impressive first book- I can’t stop thinking about it!
