On His Six by Patricia D. Eddy
5.0
I listen to a lot of romantic suspense, and Patricia Eddy continually remains as one of my favorite listens. This third book of the Away From Keyboard series is gripping from the first scene and had me is chaos for the entire listen. I could not wait to hear what was going to happen! We get to know Ryker. He is a former green beret and has been through more than anyone should experience. When he meets Wren and hears her story, he is both attracted to her and wants to help her. Wren is a talented hacker, but needs the expertise and strength of strategic warriors. With the Russians at the ready, these two, along with help from their friends, West, Dax and Inara go in search of a woman. There are a few things I really love about the way Eddy writes. Her characters are flawed. Wren suffers from anxiety disorder and rather than gloss over it, she deals with it realistically. Ryker has his own personal issues and they are dealt with head on. There is no nonsense and it's refreshing to have an author attack subjects like that. If you enjoy thrilling suspense, action packed scenes, strong characters and steamy passion, this book and this series is for you.
And with all that being said, the narration is exquisite. Aiden Snow's raspy, deep voice brought the Ryker to life. His performance exuded the pain and guilt he carried and made you feel compassion for him. Grace Grant makes Wren such an incredibly strong opponent with a voice full of confidence for her trade, and also a sound of understanding and love. This team brought the story to life and kept it thrilling and passionate.
