I heard about this book from the Mr. and Mrs. Smith show on Amazon Prime, where it serves as a significant plot point.

I adored this book and I saved several quotes for posterity. My biggest overarching thought about this book is a sense of connectedness with humanity. It's crazy to me that one could live in such different eras can converge on what life is truly all about. More specifically, I will have this book in mind when people say "it was a different time" to explain away the wrongdoings of the people who came before it. Well, there were at least some people (such as the author here) who had compassion, empathy, and mindfulness figured out 100 years ago
