Hotel Ruby by Suzanne Young

3.0

The synopsis of this book intrigued me. As I read I found myself confused at times and intrigued other times. The plot was fast paced and action packed making it hard to put the book down. Audrey and her family were achingly real in their grief and their distance from each other. The characters in the Hotel Ruby were hauntingly strange and eerie while also being incredibly human.
While I enjoyed the story and the way the plot kept surprising me, I did have trouble following the story line occasionally. Also, every once in a while, it felt like the pace sped up rather quickly. I realize that it was a part of the story put that’s when I got lost. The ending was good, but it was very unexpected. However, it was a very moving and symbolic ending. It also fit Aubrey’s character.
