The Curious Kitten at the Chibineko Kitchen by Yuta Takahashi

This could just as easily have been titled 'Before the Food Gets Cold'. The chibi neko exists to provide an appealing name and cover image and for no other purpose whatsoever. It occurred to me while reading that if only these niche cafés would learn the use of an electric warming tray the conversations with the dead could last much longer. Growing up, as I did, in an atmosphere of stories about WW2 sigint and naval warfare I would never have guessed that by the 2020s Japanese cozy fiction would have an indescribable allure for me but here we are.
