Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke
by Eric LaRocca
This book had me glued from start to finish, hence the fairly high rating
Alot of the content was horrific and absolutely insane.
I mean two minutes into the story and it had me outright saying aloud "what the fuck?"
Two women meet and speak over emails and direct messages. The reason they start speaking to each other is the most absurd ever ; over the sale of an apple peeler.
Further than that there's this one thing that stood out to me in the book how this woman's aunt used to mentally and emotionally abuse her by letting her stand in a cubboard with a raw egg for hours as a means of keeping her quiet, telling her if there was so much as a crack on there she would have to eat it including the shell. Her aunt made her do this claiming that "people will do so much worse to you" so as an adult she accepts this and thinks people who love her will hurt her, and that she sort of needs to be 'greatful' because things could be so much worse.
Its a quick read, props to the author for originality and creativity and in the effortless way the story was told. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined reading something so..... Yeah. You get it. Read the book
