This is the second book I've read by Elle McNicoll and as an adult (not a middle grader) I find her stories simultaneously so frustrating and so healing.
I loved Cora and Adrien so much, and their friendship gave me deep joy. The experiences Cora had at school also triggered some of the wounded parts inside myself. But I also got to share in the catharsis and righteous success of Cora at the end... it may rarely to never go that way for us in real life, but it's still so gratifying to experience these moments of making the world right in story form.
I will read anything and everything Elle writes from here on out.
