First Bite
by Dani Harper
Geneva--Neva--has been turned into a "werewolf" by Meredith, against Neva's will. Neva's trying to end her life before she kills someone. Travis, a drifter wolf-shifter who calls himself a "Changeling" instead of a werewolf, saves her and becomes her reluctant, substitute tutor through her first change.
Although Travis doesn't believe that there are evil werewolves, Travis and Neva are soon on the run from Meredith's hunters. In spite of their attraction to each other--or because of it--they are soon torn apart. A mission to escape becomes a rescue mission.

I'm a fan of Dani Harper's Changeling series. The Dark Wolf series is a departure from that series in more ways than one. First, it's--duh--darker in tone. Meredith is an evil, werewolf magic-user. Her role continues into the next book. Neva and Travis also continue their roles into the next book, urban fantasy-style.
I liked both Neva and Travis. I have to admit, though, that their love story seemed a bit tepid. Maybe it will develop in the next book. Two other characters, Riley and Baker, are also introduced. It will be interesting to see what happens with their stories.
I recommend First Bite.
