Bit better the second time through.

A very interesting concept but I felt the execution could have been better. For starters, Cassie's character annoyed the heck out of me through the first part of the book. The way we jump around periods of time though the first 25 chapters or so just about drove me nuts especially since nothing was actually being explained very well. So this cost the book dearly in my opinion as it stretched my desire to DNF the book when I first read it

Ultimately I am glad I continued reading. The story does begin to smooth out many of it's issues, the action picks up and Yancey shows some decent skill writing from a few various POVs. We get to see what is going on from a few different fronts in this war for humanity. The characters also get to redefine for themselves just what that means. So a decent read but I was hoping for better.

Again, it does get better and I will be continuing the series.
