This was a light and a somewhat fun read. It's a shame it was overshadowed by unnecessary clichés and this underwhelming romance with 0 chemistry, making it seem like my divorced parents had more of it than Xaden and Violet.
As it turns out, no, making Violet fall from Tairn's back 50 times to make a cliffhanger wouldn't work after some time because it became too predictable.
I think there is definitely some material to build on in the next books and that not all hope is lost to endless clichés (plot armour, superficial romance, cool sidekicks we never actually get to know in depth and so on). It really has the potential to grow better and I hope we get to see it.
