This is the first time I've read a Toni Morrison book outside of an academic setting and while I loved it, I definitely didn't understand as much. The writing was beautiful as always, and even if I didn't entirely understand it there were bits and pieces that stick out to me that I kind of understood. Morrison is definitely one of my favorite authors and I think this was a good book to start with when reading for fun because it's short.
