1.0

This gets a whole star because I didn't hate the writing amd the last quarter of the book held my attention. It only gets one star for the following reasons.

The main character was so incredibly full of himself that it was extremely hard to get into this book at all. It also moved so slowly that it might have been a great short story once upon a time but has been ruined through expansion.

This is marketed and promoted like a thriller when it's actually a supernatural horror. There's nothing wrong with supernatural horrors, but don't deceive readers about it.

My final main issue with this book is that it is detrimental to women. There are two main female characters, one of which is a dead child for most of the story and the other ends up being the villain who fakes an abusive husband. This perpetuates an extremely harmful myth about women seeking help from domestuc violence and should never be used as a plot device.
