The World for Sale: Money, Power and the Traders Who Barter the Earth's Resources by Jack Farchy, Javier Blas

4.0

The chronicles of commodity trading's rise from a boring nobody to kingpin status. Its a good read for anyone with a interest in commodities trading. Its filled with insightful anecdotes, which highlights how commodity trading straddles the spheres of finance, politics and war. My only critic would be that after a strong start and about 200 pages, the excitement vanishes and dilutes in a repetition of the events that lead the traders to success.

Two most important takeaways:
1) People have severely underestimated the impact of commodity trading on politics
2) Bankers are innocent kids from kindergarten compared with the commodity traders.
