The Secret of Pembrooke Park by Julie Klassen is an excellent Regency romance. My favorite part about the book is that it is not just a romance, but is also filled with mystery and suspense. Abigail and her family have just moved into the manor house, Pembrooke Park, that has been abandoned for the last eighteen years. They are offered the house as their family is forced to cut expenses and downsize from their former wealthy lifestyle.
I enjoyed living through Abigail and her adventures as she makes peace with herself, her family, and the mystery surrounding her new home. Ms. Klassen has excellent details in her writing that help you to immerse yourself in Abigail's life. I loved how the book was so authentic to the Regency time period. You also experience the gospel as Abigail's heart changes throughout the story. I found myself reflecting on my own heart and drawing closer to the Lord as I read the book. I highly recommend this book and give it five stars.
