The Home-Maker

4.5/5 stars
Wonderfully surprising book. As you can tell from the description, this book is very feminist for the 1920s, but I was surprised by its themes and criticisms of consumerism, capitalism, ableism, and mental health. All of the characters were very well realized with their own hopes and dream as well as their own shortcomings and failures. I wasn't completely happy about the ending but I thoroughly enjoyed my reading experience. I found this story very wholesome and heartwarming; but also heartbreaking at times. I absolutely recommend this book for anyone interested in easy to read classics, or stories about challenging the traditional gender-dynamic, or both.
