Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone
by Diana Gabaldon
Rounding up from 2.5 stars. I dunno, I tend to enjoy a slow book with lots of detail and side stories and Gabaldon is a very descriptive writer, I've got such clear pictures in my head of the Frasers' house, etc. And I liked that this one was less violent (except for the bear chapter, WTF, that was unnecessary) and not rape-y at all; I almost didn't read this installment for fear it would be another book full of sexual assault. I like Claire and Brianna and Ian and Rachel quite a bit, and there were some really interesting new characters (Emily, Elspeth). But as many other reviewers have mentioned....what actually happened? For 900 pages, there was almost no real plot and no new stories. I don't feel like the story progressed much. I enjoyed it while I was reading it, was a standing member of the Bad Decisions Book Club way too many nights in a row, and....it's been like three days since I finished it and I can't remember much of what happened? Also there was WAY too much religion in this book for my tastes. I really didn't like the . I'm glad I waited to check this out of the library as I doubt I'll re-read even if it takes 10 years for the next installment.
