I picked this up because I heard it was a funny audiobook and a great story. I will give Key that I appreciated his dry sense of humor most of the time, but this book was never laugh out loud funny and also was SO. DESPERATELY. SAD. that I truly wonder how it was ever labelled as a comedy.

As other reviewers mention, the content itself is hardly an “insane love story, and, really, hardly feels like a love story at all. I felt the most engaged somewhere around the middle after the first reconciliation, but then everything got so dark with both of their behaviour that I’m left wondering why we were never told about the honest benefit of getting back together (again) other than just *because.* Both parties seem to perpetually treat each other poorly, and the bit at the end about never feeling secure/always fearing another affair as well as asking people to remind you of what a terrible person you are and how difficult you’d be to live with felt like such an odd and uncomfortable way to wrap up the “love story.” Eek. Glad I can’t relate.
