I loved the characters. That is really where this book shines, making you love the people. I was very invested in their wellbeing and learning about them. I feelblike I could especially picture Elsie and Cliff very well.

The big climatic reveals went by too fast for me, especially the confrontation at the end, but the set up was great with some little thrills thrown in (the thing in the soap!). Felt real to life and gritty in places without getting so graphic i needed to nope out.

Turns out making it gay makes me like cozier mysteries better.
