I picked this book up on a whim because I remembered a friend had suggested it as a good read to learn about personal finance and investing, and I have been wanting to learn more but didn’t know where to start. Honestly I usually have a lot of skepticism for personal finance content of any kind (mostly because there is so much out there, but also a lot of it seems to be rooted in capitalism, patriarchy, and classism), but was surprised by how quickly I found that not to be the case here. Sure, there’s some commentary that I didn’t agree with, but ultimately this book approaches finance with huge amounts of empathy and accessibility without sacrificing action. It has helped me so much sift through the bullshit, understand my priorities (and that I can have whatever priorities I want!), and take action, all without feeling like I’m being belittled, talked down to, confused, or disheartened about my options and my future. Really great book.
