Run, Rose, Run
by Dolly Parton, James Patterson
Run Rose Run—When I saw Dolly Parton had helped co write this book I knew I wanted to read it. A young girl is on the run and makes it to Nashville, hoping to make it as a singer, although she knows no one and has not a penny to her name when she arrives. We know she’s being pursued by someone dangerous and violent but we don’t know who or why. A country superstar who has “retired” hears our young character sing in a bar one night and is in awe of her talent. From there it’s a story of a rise to stardom, a dangerous past continuing to pursue her, and a love story. I loved the inside look into the music industry that was obviously based so much on Dolly’s own life, but this particular novel wasn’t my favorite. It was a fun read and a quick page turner but probably not the most well developed mystery I’ve come across.
