Sea of Rust by C. Robert Cargill

5.0

I have not enjoyed an apocalypse this much since Station Eleven.

Im a character driven reader first and foremost, but sometimes a book comes along with lore so interesting it's the thing that kept me going.

In a new age of AI this is incredible interesting and relevant. If we succeed in making AI as smart as humans, then what? Do they deserve human rights like individuality? What if they don't get it? While the story of the characters  was incredibly interesting the chapter I enjoyed most were the the exposition about the new world. I loved reading about the first AI, the downfall, the end. The way the stories of Brittle and her band of robots and the story of how the world "ended" intertwined beautifully.
