Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose by Joe Biden

5.0

Admittedly, I'm a big fan already, but I continue to be struck by how well Biden writes and expresses his ideas. There are really two stories here: one the story of Biden's last years as vice-president, and the second the story of a father working through his oldest son's illness and death. The story of the father is the most compelling, and the story of the vice-president helps makes the story of the father that much more compelling. How did he do it? How could anyone do it? Through each tragedy Biden has had to face, he has grown in his ability to express compassion and to exercise empathy in a way I'm not sure other public figures can.
