Alien's Getaway by Tina Moss

4.0

This book is exactly the quick read that I needed to cleanse my book palate.

It was fast paced, spicy, funny, and had lots of my favorite sci-fi romance tropes, from fated mates to wilderness survival to an unexpectedly adorable sidekick. I don't want to spoil too much on that front, but let's just say that it had me feeling the same way I felt about the otter-based mail delivery service in Sarah Maas's Crescent City.

Our protagonist, Elena, is a boricua security officer from Earth's first deep space vessel who was captured by bad-guy aliens to be sold as a slave. She is rescued by our good-guy alien hero, the warrior Daegan, who has cool metal tattoos and thinks that this feisty little human might be his fated mate. All hell breaks loose as they try to escape, and the two of them are forced to get to know each other (and explore their instant attraction) on a strange planet where their escape pod crash lands.

If you like a brawny alien hero who likes to take charge in the bedroom, you're going to like Daegan.

I will definitely pick up the next book in the series when I need something short, sweet, and interstellar.
