Marina
by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
I was asked to read this book in tercero de la ESO (Freshmen year in the US and Year 10 in the UK) for my class, Lengua Castellana or Lengua y Literatura, and it became my favourite book of all time.
The plot of the story itself is absolutely incredible, it left me absolutely in awe at some of the discoveries that the main character made. I've never read anything quite like it and I can only aspire to write something as good as it someday.
The aesthetic that this book paints the picture of inside my head is undescribable and so picturesque and pleasing to the film that plays within my head whenever I read, it scratches a very particular place in my brain that has yet to be scratched again.
Once again, one of my favourite books of all time, and I can never find words to describe how good I think it is and how much I recommend this book.
