The Cuckoo's Egg: Tracking a Spy Through the Maze of Computer Espionage by Clifford Stoll

4.0

A wild true story written by an oddball leftie astronomer at UC Berkley who accidentally stumbles into an international cyberespionage operation in 1985. Stoll's writing style renders the rather large amount of technical material approachable and exciting; and owing to the hurry-up-and-wait nature of the story, the book is threaded with charming and bizarre personal anecdotes, usually relating to his girlfriend Martha and their colorful Bay Area friends.
